Alley’s design career began in 2012 when she took a position with Ambrose Furniture Works, a full-service design firm and custom furniture showroom, after earning her associate’s degree in interior design. In her seven years with the firm, Alley gained experience as both designer and showroom manager. From design to implementation, including project management and procurement, Alley built a diverse portfolio of work in Texas, Oklahoma and Illinois. She credits a large part of her success to her late mentor and friend, Joshua Ortiz, whose impressive talent, high expectations & passionate heart for people always pushed her further, both personally & professionally.
Alley ventured away from Ambrose Furniture Works to launch her own interior design firm in 2019, Casa Mata Interiors. Around the same time, Hailey Kolbe Design was established by Alley's dear friend Hailey Kolbe. After several years working independently successful firms, Alley was brought into Hailey Kolbe Design to serve as Resident Senior Designer. While both women continue to flourish in their independent businesses, Alley has loved stepping into a design role within Hailey's. Meanwhile, Casa Mata Interiors is actively providing design services to both new and cherished repeat clients!
Alley’s childhood uniquely positioned her to appreciate luxury design. Growing up in her lakeside family home in Ohio, interiors designed by Denise VanScoder-Williams of VanScoder Interiors, she was surrounded by the high level of design that she came to expect in her own work. Alley also had the privilege of enjoying time in her family vacation home, a multi-penthouse condo in Boca Raton, Florida, designed by AD100 Interior Designer Tessi Garcia.
From the colonial revival style lake house in Ohio to the modern and technologically advanced beachfront residence in Florida, Alley gained her appreciation for meaningful design, quality craftmanship and materials, and uniquely functional spaces.
In her own design work, Alley adores the timeless look of cherished antiques and thoughtfully procured original art, infusing them into any space. Her personal aesthetic is layered and storied, full of texture, color and pattern. However, her design work is highly customized and purposed to express the innate and natural aesthetic of each client. Therefore, each home she creates is completely unique, including hers!
Alley is happily married to her husband of 16 years, David. David works at Texas A&M and is a rural sociologist. They have two beautiful children, Andrés is 13 and is into swimming, Boy Scouts, piano & choir. Milena is 9 and also swims but she loves ballet and fashion! Anyone who meets Alley knows that she loves dogs and particularly her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Hazen. Her family loves to spend their time together at home, with friends and at church. And they travel whenever they can! Both Alley and David are devoted to sharing God’s love in marriage ministry. Alley has a heart for women who have endured trauma and hopes to encourage them in their healing journey toward Christ!
